Cocotinos at the WTM London travel show

We would like to thank all of the agents who came to see us ( TM and Iwan) at the recent World Travel Mart at the Excel Center in London. The weather was mild, not to cold at all. We enjoyed the event and the London street life. The fish and chips in the pub was great.The show was a success as we now have UK agents who are keen and committed to selling the Cocotinos brand of resorts.We also met agents from other parts of Europe, Denmark especially and the USA. And also entered into partnerships with more companies with strong on-line travel connections.

As you can see from the photo it was not all hard work, with our owner Mr Wong playing the guitar with a beautiful lady on another stand. Hopefully this will translate into good business for all of us, which is music to everybody's ears.

New Airport at Lombok is Open for Business

Since October the 1st 2011 the new airport at Lombok Island is open for service which should greatly improve not only access to the island but give all of our guests a better experience when arriving and leaving Lombok. The travel time from the new airport to Cocotinos Resort is around the same time as from the old airport at around 1 hour 15 minutes but maybe shorter as the new road connection to the resort is located south of the city meaning we do not have to travel through the town to reach Cocotinos.

ODEX is a spring consumer andtrade show that is co-hosted with Blue Edge and the 5th annual UnderwaterFestival from 7 to 9 October 2011 in Fortitude Valley, RNA Showgrounds inBrisbane (More info on ODEX). Cocotinos from ITB Berlin to Italy and France - A promotional road trip to Europe

After 5 days in Germany at ITB, and 4 days in Italy with the Mappamondo road show, TM & Iwan are very happy to have met over 80 agents, who expressed great enthusiasm for our new Cocotinos resort in Lombok. Some agents were also very interested in our first Cocotinos Resort in Manado. We wish to thank all agents who came to see us and gave us the chance to introduce our Cocotinos brand of service. Many agents have already arranged to visit us in the coming months and we welcome them with open arms. We are also encouraged that a few big European agents have already committed to feature Cocotinos in their brochures.

After the Mappamondo road show, Iwan the General Manager of Cocotinos-Sekotong, Lombok, continued visiting dive agents in Paris, Frankfurt, Munich, Stuttgard and Bremen and we are thankful to all agents who positively received Iwan with the kind introduction by Ms. "Vita" Debelius.

:: William Tan - Singapore ::

William Tan has been fascinated with the creatures of the sea since childhood. While studying at the Johns Hopkins University (USA), much of his spare time was spent gazing at the extensive marine collection of the National Aquarium in Baltimore. A violinist with the Singapore Symphony Orchestra, William earned his scuba diving certification in 1994.

Thereafter, without his prized antique Italian violin, he travels extensively between concert seasons throughout the Pacific region photographing marine life for tourism organizations, dive magazines and resorts.

His most recent book, Gorontalo: Hidden Paradise, published under the commission of the Indonesian government, is a collaboration with Hong Kong's leading underwater photographers Stephen Wong and Takako Uno.

Cocotinos Manado :: Cocotinos Manado Welcomes 2011 with Guests from Singapore, Japan, U.S.A, Norway and Indonesia!

In true tradition to Cocotinos' Manado New Year Celebration, our staff entertained our guests with songs, dance, fancy costumes and the finale fire works show! The Dinner Extravaganza besides the signature BBQ dishes of Cocotinos Manado, a whole roast pig was also served to the delight for all our guests!

This New Year, Martinus had the opportunity of hosting once again, Mr Nick Colacino after 9 years of losing touch since the last Dive Centre where he worked! Many Thanks to Nick, Joan, James and his ScubAddiction group of divers, Callia, jeremy, Maddie, Reiko, Noriko, Saori and especially Kei who makes his 3rd trip this year to Cocotinos manado from Tokyo to spend his New Year with us!

A Big THANK YOU to all the staff also for putting the event together and making it a wonderful evening even with the weather threatening to ruin the evening!

Cocotinos Sekotong celebrated its first Christmas together with 16 in-house guests from Holland, USA, Singapore and Switzerland with a Dinner Barbecue. Our staff also treated the guests with carol singing led by Agus from Front Office.

Fast Ferry Between Bali & Lombok

From 30 Dec 2010, Fast ferry "MV.SABANG MARINDO VIII" operated by Baruna Indonesia will start their service between Bali and Lombok.

With this new service, you can now travel from Bali to Lembar Harbour in Lombok where you can be picked up by our Cocotinos transfer services or find your own way to Cocotinos Sekotong instead of flying in. The transfer time from Lembar to our Resort is about 40Mins.

Here is the tentative schedule received on 21 December 2010.

Mr. T.M. Wong, the owner of Cocotinos Boutique Resorts and Odyssea Divers with his management team welcomed Mr Iwan Sitompul to head Cocotinos' new 28-room boutique beach resort perched upon a 350-meter white sandy beach overlooking the Gili Nanggu and Gili Tangkung in the south-west of Lombok Island with an extensive spa, scuba dive and water sports facilities.

Born in Bangka Island, Iwan began his career in 1974 a cashier at UTA French Airlines Jakarta at early young age. Four years after, Iwan was promoted to District Manager in UTA’s branch office in Balikpapan. Whilst in Balikpapan, he was instrumental in the tourism development of that area while undertaking a successful career in being the advisor to board of directors of 3 oil service companies and later heading the Formalities Department of American’s Bechtel International Balikpapan Oil Refinery Expansion Project and Bontang LNG Refinery Expansion Project, in charge of the formalities of 2,400 foreign employees.

He joined Heritage International Hotel Management and Consultants in Singapore in l987 as Co-owner and Executive Director in charge of sales and strategic marketing where he had been involved in number of consultancies of boutique hotels in Thailand and Malaysia. Iwan’s portfolios include launching and marketing of Puri Kamandalu Resort in Ubud and the Marante Hotel in Toraja to international market; representing Griyawisata Hotels Group (Hotel Tiara Medan, Bali Hotel Respati, Besakih and Puri Dalem, Hotel Bintang Jakarta); representing and marketing Hotel Kartika Plaza Jakarta, Marante Highland Resort Toraja and Kamandalu Resort Bali for Singapore and Malaysian markets.

Iwan has been resident of Bali since 1999 and ever since involved in several unique boutique hotels in Bali and Lombok as sales & marketing executive consultant. He successfully coordinated and spearheaded the promotion and launching of resorts i.e., Champlung Sari, Vila Lumbung, The Payogan, The Viceroy Bali and the pioneer of putting Vila Ombak and Gili Trawangan as Lombok’s high profile boutique hotel and prime destination respectively. Iwan travelled extensively around the world to represent all the hotels under his consultancies in the major worldwide trade exchanges.

Prior to his latest assignment as General Manager of Cocotinos Sekotong Lombok, he was consultant for South East Asia of K-Hotels head-quartered in Beverly Hills, California, USA and also involved in the development of tourism marketing and branding of Flores.

With his new assignment, Iwan is back in his favourite occupation and his extensive sales contacts and network in local, regional and international market circles will ensure marketing success of Cocotinos, Boutique Beach Resorts.

A Week with William Tan

Widely recognised as a master of underwater macro photography, William Tan is a violinist with the Singapore Symphony Orchestra and accomplished marine life photographer. Between concert seasons, he spends his time studying and photographing marine animals throughout the Asia Pacific region. His patience and determination has resulted in many rare images such as his sequence of a male jaw fish releasing its brood of hatching eggs into the sea. Catching the extremely shy fish at the moment it is releasing its hatching eggs is quite an accomplishment.

William Tan has been fascinated with the creatures of the sea since childhood. While studying at the Johns Hopkins University (USA), much of his spare time was spent gazing at the extensive marine collection of the National Aquarium in Baltimore. A violinist with the Singapore Symphony Orchestra, William earned his scuba diving certification in 1994.

Thereafter, without his prized antique Italian violin, he travels extensively between concert seasons throughout the Pacific region photographing marine life for tourism organizations, dive magazines and resorts.

His most recent book, Gorontalo: Hidden Paradise, published under the commission of the Indonesian government, is a collaboration with Hong Kong's leading underwater photographers Stephen Wong and Takako Uno.

Over the past 30 years, his photos and articles have been published in magazines, books, posters, and CDs worldwide. He has written guidebooks to the Red Sea and Micronesia, as well as an oral history of diving in America. Recently Hanauer began shooting underwater video, and his work as been selected for showing in festivals, on the internet, on iTunes, and in TV commercials. More...

Last weekend was a weekend of meeting new friends and catching up with old friends. Cocotinos and Odyssea Divers - Euro Divers International's regular guests not only visited our booth, but brought along their friends whom have yet to visit our resort and introduced to them our brand of hospitality and sharing with them why the only resort to go to is Cocotinos in Manado. It will not be too long that wading on the beach involuntarily during low tides to and from the dive boat will be a thing of the past! On March 19, 2010 we had Guest from Central Oregon Diving Group USA

They stayed at Cocotinos for 6 days 5 nights and do 12 dives..

After we give them the Briefing about our Resort and the dive plan with Odyssea Divers, they did 1 dive at the House reef.

The first full day dives they went to Bunaken Island we separate 2 group that time, we using 2 of our Diving Boat, Fei-Fei, 1 of our diving boat after to weeks of Renovation Fei-Fei is ready to serve the Divers.

and the other of our diving boat is Delphine.

we bring them to do 2 dives at Bunaken Island and 1 dive at House Reef, cos the first day they do the dive at house reef, they like to do the dive around house reef, they said that many small thing there.

Central Oregon (USA) lead by Walt Bolton, Walt's group has given the all Thumbs Up! for the new layout and improved accessibility Around the Boat!

After Finish the dive that day, all comeback to Cocotinos Resort to continue the activities around the Resort, some of them love to go at Laleina Spa, We have often been asked what The Lailena Spa was named after? “La Leina”simply means ‘The Sea” in the language of the Tombulu people, one of the indigenous group living in the Minahasa Highlands of North Sulawesi. The tree under which the spais built is the Hibiscus tiliaceus, a lush tree that is commonly found along the coastal areas of Indonesia archipelago. So, Lailena Spa simply means “The Sea Spa”, a name befitting its location, and which sets the tone for a wonderful and relaxing experience.

Other Activity that they do during when they stay at Cocotinos Resort Manado is, Mount Mahawu Trekking, leave from Cocotinos by van and heading to the city of Tomohon, an active volcano an altitude of 1311 meters. It takes approximately 1 hour to reach the volcano’s rim, passing through potato and onion fields dotted with cows. An easy for all.

Before we went to the top of Volcano we stop for take a part of Reforesting that theydo around the Volcano, Glad to be a part of the Reforesting! As a divers we’re not only taking care of the ocean, also we care about jungle J “Save Our Ocean,Go Green!”.

Some of them didn’t go for trekking, they still on diving..

When we come back to Cocotinos Resort, some of them continue they activity to do Mandarin Dive, and the other, chose go for Massage at Lailena Spa.

We have great time when we accompany them!
